Urban adventure and daredevil design meet in Be Bar, a new genre of lounge. Founded by Michael Watson and Thomas McGuire in 2006, Be Bar is truly a new genre of lounge. We are within crawling distance of the newest bars and restaurants in Gallery Place Chinatown as well as the Verizon Center, just two blocks from the Mt. Vernon Square 7th Street Convention Center Metro Station, and walking distance of bed in DC's newest developing neighborhoods. We're not another flashy overpriced sit-back-and-pose place, nor are we just a monochrome nightclub. We strive to boast a balanced clientele of locals, tourists and specifically to become 'the destination in DC nightlife.' Be Bar offers a cool haven in one of the worlds most vibrant cities, offering an intimate lively setting, relaxing lounge, theme nights, as well as a live DJ and dance space. The décor is warm, simple chic for a modern world. The design reflects a brilliant collision of influences - from the modern to the baroque - that suffuses the space with energy, vitality and magic all highlighted by soft, ambient lighting.

But by demystifying this myth, our 'Sweet Martinis' will quickly become all the rage with their creative take on the classic cocktail. The candy themed martini list has been carefully chosen with expertise, to offer our customers the highest quality and competitive prices. We will succeed in developing theme concepts into a venture highly appreciated by all our guests. Be Bar specializes in martinis and cocktails, a full bar, and hors d'oeuvres, rivaled only by its knock out staff.

Entirely built and operated by owners Michael Watson and Thomas McGuire, Be Bar is a brilliant reflection of the boldness and diversity of the city.

Michael Watson, originally from New England, moved to Washington, DC in 1998. Watson embarks on an aggressive vision to open more establishments in other key US cities. In addition to lounges, Be Bar is involved in the development of a related E-Commerce website.

Watson holds a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and has been working in the Nightlife and Hospitality industry since graduating in 1998, most recently as the owner of TCBY Mrs. Field's in Washington, DC as well as Manager of Cobalt nightclub.

Thomas McGuire, originally from Pennsylvania, moved to Washington, DC in 1994. In addition to opening Be Bar, McGuire owns an upscale office furnishings dealership, WorkSpaces, representing lines such as Inscape.

McGuire holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from DeSalles University in Centre Valley Pennsylvania as well as a Master of Business Administration, with a dual concentration in Finance and International Marketing from LaSalle University in Philadelphia. Most recently McGuire worked as Director of New Business Development with Chasens Business Interiors, a Herman Miller dealer.
